Where They Started
They were successful by every external metric - a business executive who delivered results, led teams, and managed complex projects. But internally, they were at war with themselves.
Procrastination wasn't just a productivity challenge. It was a source of deep shame. They'd spent years fighting against their own brain, trying to force themselves into a neurotypical mold that never fit. The harder they pushed, the more resistance they created. The more resistance, the more shame.
They came to Shannon exhausted - not from the work itself, but from the internal battle of trying to be someone their nervous system wasn't designed to be.
How We Worked Together
Shannon's integrative coaching approach didn't try to fix their ADHD. Instead, it helped them understand their nervous system patterns, work with their natural rhythms, and transform their relationship with the parts of themselves they'd been fighting.
The Approach
- Nervous System Mapping: Understanding how ADHD shows up in their body, not just their behavior
- Parts Work (IFS-informed): Befriending the "procrastinator child" instead of fighting it - discovering what it was trying to protect
- Integrative Coaching: Designing systems and rhythms that worked with their neurodivergent brain, not against it
The shift wasn't about eliminating procrastination. It was about understanding what procrastination was actually doing - and finding a kinder, more effective way to meet the same need.
What Changed
For the first time, they felt a seed of peace in themselves - not the peace of having everything figured out, but the peace of no longer fighting against who they are. The procrastinator child felt loved, accepted, and valued for the first time in their life.
They stopped white-knuckling through their days. They started working with their natural rhythms instead of against them. And perhaps most importantly, they stopped seeing their ADHD as something to fix and started seeing it as part of their unique way of being in the world.
In Their Words
"What an amazing session! I think my procrastinator child feels loved and accepted and valued for the first time in my life. I have this seed of peace in myself now that I can nurture and grow. It is no longer something I am fighting against."
